Organising a cruise of 111 days is no mean feat, especially so soon after World War II when tensions still remained high in various parts of the World. Whilst I've talked about the Caronia not being exempt from the effects of social change ashore, of course she wasn't exempt from any political ones either. This was especially important because by and large the cruise clientèle would be Americans, and their safety ashore was just as paramount as on board ship.
The position of the Caronia has been amended from the original details gathered from an October 1950 brochure, where a call at Bali had been scheduled for arrival on 26 February until the 28th. This cancellation of Caronia's first call here resulted in an extra day being spent in Sydney and another in Colombo in early March. She wasn't to visit Bali until March of 1954
