EXCURSION S-11 Auckland - Rotorua Thermal

Full day from Auckland, including Luncheon and Supper
Motor coaches will leave the dock at 7.15am and proceed through the city of Auckland into the
rural districts of New Zealand's North Island. Pass through the coal-mining district and a rich
fruit-growing region. Arrive Rotorua at 12.45pm., where a buffet luncheon will be served.
You are now in the heart of New Zealand's famous Thermal Region, a Yellowstone of the Southern
Hemisphere. Geysers, fumaroles, mud volcanoes, and limpid hot-water pools, together with healing
mineral springs, abound through this area.
In the mid-afternoon motor to nearby Whakawarewarewa for a special performance of Maori dances.
Leave at 4.30pm for the return to Auckland. Supper will be served at Hamilton, important dairying
centre. Return to the CARONIA's dock at about 10pm.

Auckland City Drive - Half-Day Tour

Morning
Automobiles will leave the dock at 10am and motor through the business section of Auckland,
continuing then into the colourful suburbs. From Mount Eden there will be a view of Waitemata
harbour, Auckland's main port, which is one of the most beautiful in the World. On the way,
pass the Domain, with its imposing War Memorial Museum.
Continue out to the Waitakere Ranges, clothed in unchanged primeval forests with some giant kauri trees. Return via the
Marine Drive, stopping at Achilles Point to see the new monument erected in the honour of the men of the New Zealand
Navy who sank the “Graf Spee” off Montevideo at the beginning of the war.
