Notes on Aden

ADEN will be the last port in Asia to be visited by the CARONIA. Located at the South-Western corner of the Arabian Peninsula, 668 miles from Port Sudan, its population is about 83,000, mostly Arabs and Indians.

Aden is a British Crown Colony, having been annexed in 1839. It is also the centre of a British protectorate over most of the southern coast of Arabia.

MONEY in circulation is the Indian rupee (divided into 16 annas) and the Pound Sterling. Exchange can be made at local banks and the larger stores.

SHOPPING will be mainly for Oriental curios, Arabic antiques and costumes, and similar items.
