The CARONIA is due to sail up the River Tagus and enter the harbour of Lisbon in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 15, and tie-up at Cais de Rocha, Alexandria Dock, at about 7am.

Members of Shore Excursions and Optional Tours should check their reservations against the following list, so that they will know exactly which days will be devoted to their various shore trips and be prepared to LEAVE THE CARONIA at the proper times:

Members of Tours O-63and O-63A must have the keys to their baggage readily available for Customs inspection when leaving the ship at Lisbon and when rejoining at the conclusion of their respective trips.

EXCURSION S-32A LISBON CITY

The cars will leave the dock at 9am and drive along the shore of the Tagus River to Belem to visit the Monastery of Jeronymos, thence to the Museum of Coaches. Pass through the principal residential avenues and shopping streets to the Botanical Gardens.

A panorama of the city and river may be obtained from the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain. Rejoin the CARONIA about 12.30pm.

CALDAS DA RAINHA • SINTRA • ESTORIL

Red coloured baggage tags of this Tour must be attached to luggage before it is handed to Room Stewards by 7pm on Saturday, April 14.

Sunday, April 15

Accompanied by an escort from the Cruise Staff and a courier from Lisbon, members leave the dock at 8.30am by automobile. Driving northwards via the Carregado, Santarem and Golega, the Knights Templar's Convent of Christ will be seen before luncheon at a hotel in Tomar.

In the afternoon proceed to Fatima to visit the world-renowned pilgrimage Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima; continue via the Monastery of Our Lady Victoria at Batalha, the celebrated abbey at Alcobaca, and the picturesque fishing village of Nazare, to the town of Caldas da Rainha, where dinner and overnight accommodations have been reserved at the Hotel Central.

Leaving the dock at 9am, proceed to Sintra for a visit to the National Palace, and continue to Pena Palace, 2,000 feet above sea level. Luncheon will be served at one of the leading restaurants in Sintra.

In the afternoon, visit the Gardens of Monserrate, then drive down to Estoril, the “City of the Sun”, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Return to the dock in Lisbon about 4.30pm.

Leaving Foz do Arelho in the early morning, drive to Caldas da Rainha to visit the town market place before proceeding to Sintra for a visit to Pena Palace and the National Palace. Luncheon will be served at one of the leading restaurants in Sintra.

In the afternoon visit the Gardens of Monserrate, then drive down to Estoril, the “City of the Sun”, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, rejoining the CARONIA in Lisbon about 6pm.
