The 1956 Match programme Transcript

Thanks to Phil Jones, I'm now able to present the programme transcript for the 1st Anniversary Match of the “Wareham Trophy” played at the Canadian Academy Stadium in Kobe, Japan on Saturday, 07 April, 1956.

At this point, there was just the “Wareham Trophy”, presented to the ship by Restaurant Manager Cyril Wareham during the 1955 Great World Cruise. Also, the teams had yet to establish their full identities of the “Balmoral Rangers” and the “Sandringham Dynamos.” Quite when this happened is still the subject of further research.

1956 Match programme

With both teams having won 2 games to date, this Kobe match on 7th April 1956 was dubbed “The Rubber”. It was won by the Sandringham Dynamos 4 - 2. On the original document, only the players’ last names were recorded. Where positive identification can be established, initials or first names will be added to this transcript.
