List of Passengers

This page is a combined First and Cabin Class full-text transcript of the Passenger List for the Caronia's Westbound transatlantic crossing from Liverpool on 10 December 1953. Of course, the ship would have sailed with any more passengers than are listed here. This transcript only shows those who travelled through to New York

With 9 days duration and a call to Bermuda, this positioning crossing became known as the “Sterling Cruise”, so-called because it was the only Caronia cruise that could optionally be paid for in Pounds Sterling. In later years this voyage was extended to 15 days, with Kingston, Jamaica and Nassau added as ports of call.

Important Notes
  • The list has been reconstructed from original New York Immigration records
  • As with crew lists assembled from this source, not all the information, such as age or place of birth, has been transcribed
  • Because no titles or decorations were recorded at source, only Mr., Mrs., Miss or Mstr. could be used here
  • With no marital status being shown, annotations of title for women travelling alone may be incorrect
  • Both place of embarkation and U.S. destination are shown in this list
  • Immigration manifests provide reliable information about who actually travelled
  • Passengers annotated with a ¶ prefix travelled Cabin Class
Accuracy

No guarantee of accuracy can be given with regard to marital status or indeed spelling of names. In some cases the original documents are very difficult to accurately read, even under magnification. Any proven corrections will be gladly accepted.

What's Your Story?

If you, a relative or ancestor, travelled on this voyage and you have a story to tell, I'd be delighted to hear from you!
