Culinary Translator Index
Introduction to the Culinary Translator
This section of the Timeline Glossary has required a huge amount of research, and has taken some while to compile. The object of the exercise is to try and translate into plain language the content of many of the dishes prepared aboard the “Green Goddess”.
Whilst a great deal of research has been done, the contents of this section will neither be exhaustive, nor may it be wholly correct. Although I have a strong interest in cooking, I'm always open to being corrected on any errors or omissions by any professional ship-board chef!
Cocktail Drinks & Appetisers
Introduction
On board the “Green Goddess”, hardly an evening at sea would pass where there wasn't a cocktail party to go to. The range of drinks available was vast, with liquors from almost every corner of the World being found somewhere aboard.
Some of the cocktail names were almost bewildering. Strangely, some people would order a particular cocktail simply because they loved the name far more than the drink itself.
This page lists several of the more popular cocktails that were served. If you want to host a 1960s themed cocktail party, then this list will give you hints about how each cocktail was made, and served back then. It's quite probable that some cocktails have undergone some subtle changes since those days.
