A French Heroine Aboard
Arriving on board the Green Goddess on 11 June 1952 was WWII heroine Madame Jeanne Longuet. She is seen here clutching a citation issued by the President Roosevelt of the United States. A week later she was featured in a Pottstown Mercury article.

Madame Longuet had come to visit one of the American airmen whom she saved and sheltered during World War II. She earned herself the nickname of “the flea” because she moved so fast to elude the Nazis and to keep her airmen fed and clothed and finally to smuggle them out!
