The Mystery Photographs Pages

These pages feature photographs that have either come from my own collection, of have been sent in to me, mostly by former crew members or their relatives. I'm hoping that other former crew members will be able to help identify the pictures, and maybe also have a story to attach to them.

If you can feed back any information, I'd be delighted to hear from you. Do please quote the Photograph Reference shown in your reply. Thanks.

The Caronia From the Air - But Where?

The photographs below have come from Margaret Bell, wife of Ted Bell who had kept these aerial views of Caronia. My best guess is at Messina, but can you confirm this or offer a definitive alternative…?

The Caronia ran aground onto the mud at Messina, due to strong currents, in May 1956. Are these photographs of that event?

If you can help fill any gaps, I'd be delighted to hear from you

The absence of the cable car wires and the less densely forested slopes probably rules this out as being Pago Pago, I think! Is this Tonga?

Pago Pago or not?

Just to confuse you; I reckon that this is Pago Pago - Am I right?

Balboa or Cristóbal in 1966?
