Mister Ten-Percent
As recorded elsewhere, there were many characters among the Caronia's crew. I'm indebted to George Peterson for reminding me of one chap. His real name escapes me, but this guy was very active in the “Green Goddess” Social Club. At the time of writing my recollections are sketchy, so I'm hoping someone will write in with some more detail.
He was a very bubbly and gregarious character with a definite organisational flair. He probably had some close dealings with the Cruise Staff on board, because one of his talents was organising crew trips ashore. As with all “characters”, this guy earned himself a nickname. However, how and why this chap was called “Mr. 10%” is at this point still a bit of a mystery!
One of these excursions was a coach trip to Rome and the Vatican during the 1965 Mediterranean Spring Cruise. I have yet to relate the story of the car trip to Cairo during our visit to Alexandria the previous year, but this was another one organised by this same chap.

“Mr. 10%” was a waiter on board, so if anyone can recall him, and even possibly contribute a photograph of him, then his place will be properly recorded here.
If you can contribute any information, do please get in touch…
