Westward to Fabled Lands Around the World
From the 1963 Great World Cruise leaflet…

In 1963 the luxurious Caronia will sail West on her famous World Cruise. Cunard - the pace-setter in elegant and imaginative cruising will sail East to West around the globe to great and busy ports, glamorous capitals and lovely little islands. With true explorer's flare for adventure, our travel experts combined with Thos. Cook & Son have prepared a streamlined itinerary that offers you the highlights of the World.

You'll sail strange seas, pass strange horizons and wander over latitudes and longitudes to 22 of the World's most interesting ports. Three months and 29,000 miles of sheer luxury aboard the largest ship especially built for cruising - the Caronia. The elegance and service aboard this great liner is unsurpassed in our modern day - it's truly the way to cruise around the World.

Southward she'll sail, docking first at Nassau and then turning west and transiting the Panama Canal to Acapulco, the Mexican Riviera and on up to Long Beach. Then out to the warm, blue sea and sail for Honolulu -a panoramic Pacific paradise of hushed guitars and swaying palms. And on to Japan, where you will stop at two of her most interesting ports.

To Hong Kong - busy, bustling bargain centre of the Orient and then, for the first time a cruise ship will call at Jesselton on the primitive, unspoiled island of North Borneo; to beautiful Bali - fairy-tale island in the Indian Ocean.

Singapore - fabled crossroads of the East with its picturesque, seething waterfront; Bangkok - an enchanted city of jewel encrusted temples; Colombo - capital of intriguing Ceylon; fabulous Bombay - storied gateway to the incomprehensible splendour of all India and strategic Aden -British Crown Colony on the tip of Arabia; Suez - your entrée to the Suez Canal.

By now it is springtime in the Mediterranean and your first port on this ancient sea is Alexandria - port for cosmopolitan Cairo and all the wonders of northern Egypt; progressive Haifa - gateway to Israel and the treasures of the Holy Land; resplendent Naples - gay with song and rich with famous neighbours.

And, as a fitting finale to this great cruise, is Lisbon living amid beauty and splendour this picturesque city is one of Europe's loveliest capitals. Then turning westward again you're homeward bound with a host of magnificent memories of the whole wide wonderful world.
