Wines of the Highest Excellence
The introduction to the 1958 Wine List exhorts…
The selection of wines, and especially those intended for consumption on shipboard, calls for the nicest judgement and
experience. Ocean travellers are essentially cosmopolitan in their tastes, and in catering for their requirements
The Cunard Steamship Co. Ltd., has endeavoured to place on board their ships an assortment of wines of the highest
excellence.
Their long experience has been ably assisted by the best expert skill, with the result that the wines listed are of irreproachable quality.
The same high standard is also maintained in spirits, liqueurs and mineral waters; and the cigars, cigarettes and tobaccos are the best known brands and most carefully selected.

It's interesting to note that a bottle of Pommery & Greno, G.H. Mumm or Moet & Chandon Champagne would have set you back just $5.00 in 1958, a hand-rolled Ramon Allones Cunardos Havana cigar 70cents, or a packet of King Size cigarettes just 30cents. Of course, these would all be duty-free prices. Hardly surprising that the parties held on board Caronia were legendary!
