Selection of Passenger Ephemera - Page 2

This is the second of two pages that illustrate more of the output from the Caronia's Print-Shop, along with other pieces of ephemera that have little intrinsic value, and consequently have rarely been saved. All these were collected on the 2nd of 3 Caronia West Indies Cruises in the Autumn of 1958.

On this page we'll see the various cards that were used by the Cruise Staff during their time of keeping passengers entertained whilst the “Green Goddess” was at sea.

Deck Sports Registration

This is another extremely rare card, because normally it would have been handed in to the Cruise Staff to effect the passenger's registration for their chosen deck sports, and more than likely disposed of in short order afterward.

It appears that Mr. & Mrs. Bigelow's registration had been accepted, because here we see the confirmation for their call to the first shuffleboard tournament. Luckily, it can only be assumed that his wife, Helen, had added both of their names on another registration card.

It's Ladies’ Night!

The cruise staff were never short of ideas on how to keep the passengers entertained, and one popular night in the Main Lounge was Ladies’ Night. Below we see the cover and contents of the Ladies’ Night invitation card.

Gymkhana Day

During this cruise there had been 3 Gymkhana Days, with various events held on the Lido Deck and the Sports Deck. Here we see the Cruise Staff's invitation card. Even though details of these events would have been printed in the daily programmes, they clearly weren't taking any chances of anyone missing the fun!

…And on the Way Home…

Well, who can resist rummaging through a bring-and-buy sale? On the morning of the last day at sea, with the warm Caribbean long behind them, a White Elephant Sale was held in the main lounge. Just to add a bit more spice to the morning, the sale was arranged as an auction.

Here is your opportunity to unload some of your unwanted purchases and to buy other “junk” which may be more acceptable - is priceless!
