My thanks to Emma Kinsella for sight of James Loftus’ (her Grandfather's) discharge book to enable me to complete the latter part of Caronia's Captains page. Emma has also provided scans of photographs and a North Cape “diploma”.

Where my memory, or that of others, has failed us, along came Frank (Spike) Hughes, a former AB on the Caronia, with a wealth of detail information. My thanks to him for several pieces of feedback, especially where he has been able to identify former crew members. Frank has also undertaken to help promote the Timeline with former colleagues, which is also much appreciated!

Another piece of feedback from a Timeline visitor has led to the acquisition of the Tilling Collection, mostly of memorabilia from Caronia's Commissioning Run from Gourock to Southampton in December 1948. Special thanks to Joyce Taylor for making this material available as a valuable addition to the Archive.

The wonders of eBay introduces another friend of the Timeline. Bob Philpott, an RAOB historian from South Wales, has not only introduced himself, but also put me in touch with one of the few surviving RAOB Caronia Lodge members. Bob has also provided very valuable research information that assists me in doing justice to the topic covering the RAOB Caronia Lodge here.

December 2005
Suddenly I'm inundated with photographs from several sources, with many more promised. A whole batch of Deck Department photographs have been lent to me for scanning by Len Danson from Merseyside, a former Caronia AB. Among his pictures are views inside the “Forward Pig”, proving that the Deckies knew how to party too! Len has also been able to give me more useful information on the 1958 Yokohama accident, where another scan from his picture collection is placed.

Several scans have also been provided by my mate Chris Griffiths. Chris was a Commis Waiter and 1st Class Steward on Caronia from 1964 to 1967. Between him and Richard Steed, I'm going to be able to present photographs of the Judo and Wrestling Teams on board Caronia in the mid-1960s, along with more Wareham & Bergen Trophy photographs, balancing the number of Balmoral side parade shots.
