Naples - Rome

Following a short drive around the city of Naples, depart by express train for Rome (2½ hours).

Luncheon served en route.

Sightseeing beginning from Rome railway station features the Piazza Venezia, Capitoline and Palatine Hills, Villa Borghese, the Pantheon, Pincio Gardens with fine panoramic views of the city, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum.

Overnight at the Hotel Quirinale.

Rome - Naples

Morning sightseeing includes the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and Piazza, and other highlights.

The afternoon is at leisure for shopping and independent activities.

Return to Naples by evening express train, with dinner served en route.

Rejoin the Caronia.

Rome - Monaco

Morning sightseeing includes the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Basilica and Piazza, the Sistine Chapel, and other highlights of the Vatican.

The afternoon is at leisure for shopping and independent activities.

In the evening, a special dinner has been arranged at the Meo Patacca Restaurant.

Then leave Rome by overnight sleeper train for Monaco.

Monaco - Monte Carlo - Villefranche

Arrive at Monaco after “Continental” breakfast on the train.

Morning sightseeing features the major attractions of the internationally famous resort of Monte Carlo.

After luncheon at the renowned Hotel de Paris, there will be time to visit the Casino or to stroll about the town.

Then continue along the Lower Corniche to Villefranche and rejoin the Caronia.

Tour #49: Herculaneum, Amalfi, Sorrento & Capri

3 days by Motor Coach and Steamer

Naples - Herculaneum - Amalfi - Sorrento

Drive first to Herculaneum to visit the recently excavated ruins. Unlike Pompeii, which was destroyed by fire and ash, Herculeaneum was covered with volcanic mud. When the mud hardened it formed a plastic-like protective shell which kept the ruins in a remarkably well preserved state.

Then continue along the base of Vesuvius and around the mountain to the charming seaside town of Amalfi; luncheon served at the Hotel Santa Catering.

In the afternoon, motor over renowned Amalfi Drive to Sorrento.

Overnight at the Excelsior Vittoria Hotel.

Sorrento - Capri

Mid-morning steamer to Capri (1 hour). Visit the famous Blue Grotto by rowboat, weather permitting.

Also drive to Anacapri and San Michele for marvellous views of the island and Bay of Naples.

Overnight at the Gran Hotel Quisisana.

Capri - Naples

Early morning steamer (2 hours) to Naples.

Rejoin the Caronia in time for luncheon.
