Leave Bombay for Delhi by special plane in early afternoon, for 4½-hour flight to Delhi.
Saturday, 03 March 1956
Delhi
A day of sightseeing in Old and New Delhi, visiting the old Mogul area called the Fort and the Jumma Mosque, driving into the country to the Qutub Minar, and returning via the imposing government centre of New Delhi.
Leave shortly before sundown for the 45-minute flight to Agra.

Agra & Taj Mahal
Visit the glorious Taj Mahal the great Mogul Fort and the Pearl Mosque.
Also drive to the well-preserved Mogul city of Fatehpur Sikri, returning to Agra via the Tomb of Akbar the Great at nearby Sikandra.
Monday, 05 March 1956
Banaras
Arrive by 2-hour morning flight from Agra.
Full day in the Holy City of the Hindus on the River Ganges. Visit the Golden Temple, Monkey Temple and other holy sites by automobile, continuing to the bazaars for shopping.
Afternoon drive to the buried Buddhist city of Sarnath.

Banaras to Darjeeling
After an early morning boat ride along the Ganges, viewing the bathing ghats and the temple throngs, leave Banaras by plane for Bagdogra, arriving after 2-hour flight.
Continue by auto up the spectacular mountain road to the hill station of Darjeeling, in the Himalayas at the gateway to Tibet.
Arrive in time for late luncheon.

Darjeelinfg
Early morning visit to Tiger Hill for views of the highest peaks of the Himalayas and Mount Everest (weather permitting).
In the afternoon visit the gardens and Tibetan and Indian bazaars.
Thursday, 08 March 1956
Calcutta
Leaving Darjeeling after early morning tea, motor down to the picturesque town of Kurseong for breakfast, then to Bagdogra and continue by 3-hour flight to Calcutta, arriving in time for luncheon.
Sightseeing this afternoon and the next morning includes the Victoria Memorial, the Kali Temple, the Zoo, the exquisite Jain Temple and the bazaars.

Calcutta to Bangalore
Leave Calcutta in the early afternoon, arriving in Bangalore in time for dinner.
Saturday, 10 March 1956
Bangalore to Madura
Morning sightseeing in Bangalore, then fly to nearby Madura.
In the afternoon visit the amazing Minakshi Temple, one of India's most important religious shrines.
Continue by plane in the late afternoon for one-hour flight to Trivandrum, arriving in time for dinner.

Trivandrum
Trivandrum, capital of the Travancore - Cochin State, is one of the most attractive cities of India, with many fine buildings, beautiful parks and wide avenues. It is also an important pilgrimage centre.
Morning of sightseeing, visiting the Palace, Museum, and other places of interest. Also attend a special performance of the unique Kathakali Dance.
In mid-afternoon leave by plane for the 1½-hour flight to Colombo, where the Caronia is rejoined.
