Tour #E3 - Sugar loaf, Corcovado

Full-Day, by Automibile

This full-day Excursion will be operated on both days of the Caronia's visit. Each morning a group will visit the Sugar Loaf, and each afternoon a group will go to Corcovado. Luncheon is included each day.

Automobiles will leave quayside at about 9am. The route will include the major sights of Rio de Janeiro and its surroundings.

The principal business sections on Avenidas Rio Branco and Getulio Vargas will first be visited; then…

  • Beira Mar Boulevard along Botafogo Bay,
  • Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches,
  • the Botanical Gardens and Race Track,
  • Mangue Avenue with its royal palms,
  • Quints do Boa Vista — former country palace of the Brazilian Emperor,
  • the modern Sports Stadium,
  • the parks and public monuments.

Sugar Loaf Mountain will be ascended by cable car for the view of the harbour.

Luncheon will be served at the Copacabana Palace Hotel.

In the afternoon the automobiles will drive up to the summit of Corcovado, where stands the colossal statue of Christ the Redeemer. From this high point the vast panorama of Rio is seen to the very best advantage.

From here continue through the Tijuca Forest for a glimpse of the tropical splendour of the city's surroundings. Gavea Beach and Mountain and the nearby Country Club are other features of the programme.

Automobiles will return to the dock at about 4.30pm.
