The CARONIA is scheduled to arrive at Alexandria.

Note:
Having arrived nearly 24 hours later than booked due to steering gear problems, the delay would have badly impacted this shore tour. Until I can obtain sight of a voyage log, it's impossible to tell how long the delay continued to have an impact.

11am

Upon arrival at Alexandria transfer to air port and take plane for flight of approximately two hours to Luxor.

The afternoon of October 7th and all day October 8th will be spent in Luxor, and there will be the same comprehensive programme of sightseeing that is described in Tour 13.

Saturday, 08 October Itinerary

Tour #14: Luxor & Aswan

In the late afternoon of October 8th, we will leave Luxor by plane for Aswan, a flight of approximately one hour's duration. Overnight will be spent in Aswan.

Tour #14: Luxor & Aswan

On October 9th, there will be a sightseeing tour visiting the ancient Granite Quarries, where an unfinished obelisk has been lying for thousands of years, then by car and boat to the submerged Island of Philae, once the “Pearl of Egypt”.

We visit the Temple of Isis, which has been described as the most beautiful structure amidst most perfect surroundings. Continue by boat to the famous Nile Dam, which is about 1½ miles long and is an extraordinary feat of engineering.

Leave by late afternoon plane for Cairo, a flight of about 3 hours duration. Accommodations will be provided at the Mena House.

Mon. 10 & Tue. 11 October Itinerary

Tour #14: Luxor & Aswan

October 10th and the morning of October 11th will be spent in Cairo and there will be a comprehensive sightseeing programme, including visits to the Egyptian Museum, with its wealth of treasure trove, the Citadel of Saladin, the mosques of Mohammed Ali and Sultan Hassan.

There will also be a drive out to Gizeh to visit the great Cheop's Pyramid and the Sphinx.

On the afternoon of October 11th, leave by special train for Alexandria to rejoin the CARONIA.
