Saturday, 01 October Itinerary
8:30am
This two-day tour starts with transfer by motor-coach to the airport, where a plane will be waiting to take off on the delightful flight over Mazagan, Safi and Mogador to Agadir. At this point, another motor-coach will drive to the old Portuguese citadel, currently known as the Kasbah of Agadir and once known as Santa. Cruz. This bastion was stormed by the Arabs in 1540, and a short visit will feature a drive through the narrow streets to the seashore with its glittering bay.
Here luncheon will be served at the Hotel Saada, where overnight accommodations will be provided. In the afternoon there will be a drive to Taroudant, 40 miles up the Souss Valley, hemmed in on one side by the towering Atlas Mountains and on the other by the Anti-Atlas Mountains.
Five miles of mud walls enclose the city which is famous for its souks and the ornate palace of the Pasha. Refreshments will be served in the luxuriant gardens of the Marhaba Hotel before returning to the Hotel Saada in the late afternoon.
Once here, the evening's entertainment will feature a native dance called Haouache. This will be performed by a large group of Berbers, leaping and whirling around an immense bonfire.
