Tour #4: Sat. 01 October / Sun. 02 October 1955
Rabat
Full-day, by motor coach. (luncheon included)
$15.00 per person
Leave the pier at 8:30am and drive through the industrial section of Casablanca, then over the highway to Bouznika and Rabat. The latter is the dwelling place of the Sultans, rulers of Morocco.
There will be a walking tour to the Sala Colonic and gardens and Chella Merinides Necropolis which was built in the 14th century. Then by motor coach to the European section of the city and the native quarter with its exotic mixture of sights, sounds and smells.
After luncheon in a leading restaurant, there will be a visit to Hassan Tower from where one can see the remains of 300 columns of the Hassan Grand Mosque that was destroyed by the earthquake of 1755.
Passing through the native quarter, one comes to the Souk of Ghezet and the Oudaias Kasbah, the ancient Citadel of Rabat. The visit to the museum and gardens will be especially memorable because it will be accompanied by the strains of Andalusian music.
A fitting conclusion to this tour of Rabat which ends at 4pm and arrives at the pier at 6pm.
(Members of this tour may also take either Tour 3 or Tour 6 or Tour 7, but will not participate in Tours 5 and 8)
