Reykjavik - Thingvellir Drive

Group “A”
A full-day excursion by automobile will leave the landing place and drive via the Cathedral and the Parliament Buildings for visits to the University, the National Museum, and the Museum of Einar Jonsson, a distinguished sculptor.

After luncheon ashore, the party will leave Reykjavik for a drive through the district of Mosfellssveit with its numerous hot springs from which Reykjavik is supplied with hot water for its central heating system.

Thence across the high plateau Mosfellsheidi to Thingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland, and to historic Thingvellir, where, in the year 930, the Icelandic Althing, probably the oldest of democratic parliamentary assemblies, was established and the Commonwealth of Iceland had its beginning.

After tea at Thingvellir the party will return to Reykjavik about 6pm.

Thingvellir - Sogsfossar - Hveragerdi Excursion

This full-day excursion by automobile will leave the landing place and proceed via the plateau Hellisheidi, from the edge of which a magnificent view may be had of the sea, with the Westman Islands in the distance. Thence via Kambar to Hveragerdi, where one of the most productive thermal fields in the country is situated, as well as many spouting hot springs.

After sightseeing in Hveragerdi, the excursion continues via Sogsfossar, where a brief stop will be made at an extensive hydro-electrical works, to historic Thingvellir. Here, in the year 930, the Icelandic Althing (Parliament) was established, and the Commonwealth of Iceland had its beginning.

After luncheon and sightseeing at Thingvellir, the excursion proceeds, via Thingvallavatn, the largest lake in Iceland, and the high plateau Mosfellsheidi, to Reykjavik. After sightseeing and tea in Reykjavik, the party will be transferred to the landing place in time for dinner on board the Caronia.
